Re: [NTLK] Newbie question about transferring data - Brief moment of success

OK, set to Comm4, I actually got NCU and the MP 120 to connect, Horary!
But as soon as I select "Backup" from the desktop computer" I get this
error message: "The connection was stopped because of a communication
error. (-1)"...

Comm1 & Comm4 are set the same 9600, 8, n, 1, no flow control, no FIFO.

I have tried switching between Comm1 and Comm4 ( the only ports
available) and now I can't connect at all again, also NCU is crashing -
it seems after switching the Comm port settings and my laptop reset all
by itself usually after NCU pukes.

Another odd behavior in NCU, after recovering from one of the crashes,
NCU set the Comm to Comm3, which isn't even available and listed no
other ports - should've seen Comm1 and Comm4. That only happened once.

I'm gonna try the slodown.exe utility and see if that has any effect?!

Regards,

Paul Curtis

Newt to another...

Okay, so we know that when you try to connect from the newt, RX blinks
and
when you send from HT, TX blinks. That sounds exactly correct. You most
likely have a good physical connection. You can always try to connect
from
the newt and see what comes up in HT, but it is pretty academic at this
point.

Shut down HT and bring up the NCU and check your port settings. Make
sure
you are using COM1. By the way, turn off the FIFOs on the serial port if

you can. Try to connect.
