Thank you for your response. However, it is not the contact between the
wireless router and the computers that "hangs" or "drops". Rather, it
is the connection between the router and the cable modem that is the
problem. This is a wired connection of course so it's not a matter of
signal. Maybe the router doesn't interact with the cable modem often
enough to keep the IP address assigned to it by the ISP fresh or
active or whatever you call it, but the computer still thinks it has
the same connection to the Internet through the router. All I know is
that unplugging the router from its power supply forces the router to
reconnect to the Internet with the cable modem and then the Internet
works again. I notice on my router that the Asante router setup
software has multiple options for the type of Internet connection.
Maybe I'm choosing the wrong setup?
