The Newt has two types of memory. See
   <http://www.chuma.org/newton/faq/newton-faq-hardware.html#IIA1g>
it sounds as if you have a shortage of System memory. The 2000 only has
about 1 meg.

The extras icon opens the extras drawer, if it is the selected backdrop
then the icon will not be visible on the silver bar.
