According to apple this is right. I run OSX 10.1.5 on the 604 (8500)
and it can run on the 603 as well. google for Xpostfacto.

This was still free actually as I recall. Only at 7.5.3 did apple start
charging, because that was when cloning really started.

I recommend system 7.5.5 for older macs although you need to add in
Open transport and some other updates.
