Hello,

development on PDFConv, the PDF displaying tool for the Newton, has not
stopped - I just had some other work to do. But over the christmas
holidays, I had some spare time to create a nice little GUI for the PDF
converter.
It allows all actions currently possible via command line, but should be
easier to handle.
Other improvements include:
- created installers for Windows and Mac
- native starters for Win and Mac, if no installer is used
- some bugfixes
- some internal improvements

The downside is, that the GUI requires the use of JDK 1.4 (I have tested
with 1.4.2 only). The JDK requirements for the command line version have
not changed.

I would like to have some feedback from Mac users:
- do the installer and the native starters work? If not, can you find out
  what the problems are?
- is the GUI comprehensible? Normally I only develop server applications,
so I don't tend to create good GUIs :( If not, what can be done better?
(which does not mean that Win users are not allowed to send feedback, but I
  cannot test on a Mac)
- for the planned tutorial, I would like to get some screenshots taken on
  a Mac

Additionally, I need a nice icon (and maybe a logo for a splash screen), so
if somebody has too much spare time...

The files can be found as usual at

The next version is planned to be 0.9, which should be the release
candidate for version 1.0. The planned changes include:
- better documenation / a tutorial
- support of landscape and portrait mode, as well as MP1x0 users
- saving and loading of configurations
- bugfixes and usage improvements

My thanks are going to Karsten Lentzsch (http://jgoodies.com), whose Forms
and Looks libraries made this GUI possible.

Have some fun with the new version,

hli
