[NTLK] Newton dbf - FROM " How many Newtons?"

I've always wanted to start a website to contribute back to the Newton
Family, but I wasn't sure what value I could bring. I think that this might
be where I begin!

I'm considering the creation of a master dbf of Newton's, much the way that
my Toyota 4x4 group has done. They have an input page that enter your VIN#,
Mileage and the personal information you want to give about yourself.

So, let me ask the group - would anyone add their Newton MP's to such a dbf?
If so, what data would you be willing to submit? At a minimum I would want
the model# and serial# of the unit, any additional information would be
voluntary.

Subject: [NTLK] How many Newtons?

Hi,

I'm new to this list so if this is answered somewhere, please point me in
the right direction. My question is this: How many Newton did Apple produce
and is there any estimate of how many are still in service? I'm not doing
any market size survey--I'm just curious. I essentially gave up on the
Newton 10 years ago (except to play solitaire) and now I'm finding that
there is a very vibrant Newton community and a device that fits very nicely
into the "modern" world even if one hasn't been produced in 7 years or so.
TIA,

oz

PS

Is there any way to repair scratches in a Newt (MP100) screen?
