Same here - leaving the stylus in sketch or ink text mode is a great
combo with the keyboard!
I personally use 1 pt. My handwriting is atrocious, and I find that
with thicker ink pens little details, which I at least can use to tell
letters apart, get lost with the width of the lines. Because of this I
use .5 mm mechanical pencils and extra-fine tip ballpoint pens. I just
carry this over to the newton. What I'd be interested in is if anyone
uses 3 pt or higher...?
