[NTLK] Modem Card Question

I'm having trouble getting a modem card to fly. It came with my Newton
so I'm thinking it should work...

It's a 3com megahertz model 3cxm556.

Does anybody have any experience? I try to connect to pick up mail and
I get a 16022 error.

If it's a compatible card with something, what should I be choosing. I
have the NIE Modem & Serial package. Is there something else I need
such as a specific driver?
