[NTLK] MP2100 Screen Replacement Gone Bad

Korbin,

for a start, make sure that the connector in which the white display
ribbon cable sits is properly locked. You need to push the two clips
at the sides of the connector towards the side where the card slots
are to do that.

If this isn't a problem, do a hard reset as outlined at the top of
my disassembly page. You will find info on how to save your data even
if the display isn't working on that page, too.

If this doesn't fix things, the last thing you could try is remove
both the mainboard and the display unit and connect them lying on
the table, i. e. not being in the case. You only need to connect the
display ribbon cable and the AC adapter, the rest isn't needed
for the Newton to power up. Check both the mainboard and the
display unit for things like small screws, soldering tin drops,
paper clips and other stuff that shouldn't be there.

If at that point the Newton is still stubborn, you are welcome to send
it my way and I will have a look at it. Looking, as usual, is free
for list members.
