Shannan.

I'd suggest you mention your model of Newt when asking in the future.
I'd deduce that you have a MP2x00 as that's the only battery tray for
AA Batteries.

The general answer would be No, they will not be charged in your Newt
in the battery tray. The tray is designed for regular akalines only.
However if you modify it as described by the two or three sites that
detail the modification Yes they could recharge them in the battery
tray. I'm doing two (maybe three) items at this point regarding this
situation. I've done a tear down of a rechargeable pack and will
recell it with the higher capacity NiMHs. Second I'm researching into
parts to modify my battery tray so that they can accept regular
akalines and rechargeable NiMHs. (I am however going to do a complete
correct pack as suggested by Frank with the Poly Cell and a personal
add-on of a Battery Type Switch. Thirdly (is this a word? or should I
say Lastly?), I am having Peter hopefully do a CAD of the battery tray
and maybe a modification can be added later on in the Frozen Newton
Project...

Shannan, contact me off list further about this. sonnyhung at gmail dot com.
I will be bidding on a 12 pack and would gladly split it 8 for me 4
for you and we'll split the shipping. That's if I win....

Regarding the mAH of akalines - I think they are 1500, as the original
NiMH Rechargeable Packs were 1200. Someone correct me if I'm out of
line on this.
