Hi Zoont, (is this your real name? just curious)
1) Super Cap - it's possible that this has degraded to the point that
it doesn't hold a charge anylonger by your description.
2) MIC - it's situated in a nook on the underside of the front Bezel
and sandwiched between the subframe (battery portion) so it's not
accessible unless you take the Newton apart to remove the subframe
from the front Bezel. To confirm that there is actually a MIC
installed you will notice in Frank's pictures that there is a
connector below the IR shield ( a black and white wire is attached
there which about 3/4" down will be shielded/wrapped by a grey cover.
This grey wire will run parallel to the Stylus silo and then down to
the right corner to the MIC which is concealed behind the battery
cover but still underneath the subframe where the spring loaded
mechanism that ejects the battery tray/pack out...
If it's there then you need to check if it's a cable issue. I've
noticed that sometimes when people sell these units they may remove
items... or they were removed prior to the seller selling them...
As Woody has mentioned they are identical except the Front Bezel where
the imprint and logo are situated and the memory chips. Hope this
helps... I will send photos under seperate email directly to you
also...
