Sonny, I am sad to say you probably are. It depends on the limitations
placed on the particular ebook (PDF in this case). You can have it
encrypted and yet allow it to be printed. However this is rare due to
the fact that people can use the method you just mentioned and get
around the encryption. Which is what the publisher wants to avoid at
all costs. They WANT to have control over the consumer. And with the
problems of encrypted ebooks due to the fact that software and hardware
changes so fast that a book you purchased a year ago may not work now
(or even two days ago...I personally know people that have this problem).

Just look at the usenet groups and this is FULL of people having
problems with all of the types of encrypted ebooks. This is why I
recommend to purchase and use only unencrypted ebooks. That way you can
convert it to another format if you need later on and you can be sure
your book will be readable for many years to come.
