[NTLK] Original HW recognition from Russia?

Interestingly, just as a side note, and I could be wrong about this, but
I believe the original kernel or whatever it's called for the HR came
from Russia of all places! It was then I believe further developed at
Apple.

9/30/05 Ed Kummel issued the following and I have taken literary
license to pass it along on a "Need to Know Basis" . . . ?
