To do that, you just have to press the reset button, and then while the
Newt is booting you hold the pen down about a quarter inch from the
left side of the screen (in portrait mode), halfway up the screen. As
the newton starts up, it will ask you if you want to activate the
packages. If you press no, the packages will be frozen. Keep holding
the pen in the same spot, and it will ask you if you want to activate
the packages on cards too.
