An excellent place for new Newton users to start is the wikiwikinewt
link at the bottom of each email from NTLK
I find the use of the KeySpan USB/serial (Din8 will fit the eMates
serial port) to be very good.
Use Escale or NewTen
see <http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/15408&vid=91904>
to install packages directly from OS X.
Be SURE to do the hinge repair
see <http://www.pda-soft.de/emate_disassemble.html>
If you are not up to it contact me off list in the US, Frank in
Germany or others see the list archives for leads.

If you have a router it may make sense to get an ethernet card for
LPR printing and using your Mac's web sharing for loading documents
and packages, but
NCU in Classic is the most complete connection option.

Syncing with Escale is not fully implemented, NewtSync is a bit
better but still somewhat problematic.
