Pardon my asking, but did your power supply die of old age? Or did it have some kind of "external assistance?"

I find myself wondering if Apple ever designated the "official" service life of the power supply to be, say, seven years or something. With no moving parts, I don't see why it would ever die out, but then, I'm surprised by things like that all the time. :(
