I know you already have an app to do what you want, but I figured I'ld throw my 2 cents into this as well.
I use an app call "Time Date set". If I do an "PkgInfo (from S.Weyer) it tells me that Daniel Padilla created this back in May of 2004.
You can download it from my download server at:

I find that this does the job of setting the date very easily.

Never mind that we just had an incredibly cold winter in North America and huge record snowfalls across the continent. As Al Gore said to a bunch of us the other day, these record cold spells and record snowfalls are actually caused by global warming. To which Jerry York replied, 'Jeez then I guess we better stop this global warming before we all f**king freeze to death, eh?'

I often connect my 2100 to AC Adapter power in order to remove the NiMh
batteries from the tray and recharge them externally. After charging, I
will then load up the battery tray and insert it into the Newton, only to
find that the Newton had lost power and reset itself. This often results in
the date being set back to 1996. I then am forced to Open Clock then Set
Time/Date and then continually click that popup menu at the top until I can
sift through all years from 1996 to the current year 2008. This is annoying
and I would certainly love to just hop directly to 2008. Any ideas on how I
can do this?

Many thanks,

James Wages
