I did it years ago, and it was quite catastrophic. I had to do a brain
wipe to get my Newton back. It's not something to trifle with.
You can do it, but before you do, make sure you have a reliable
backup--make two -- or three, and do one onto a card as well. Make
sure you are backed up.
Next, change your Newton's date to 2010--preferable sometime after
January, just to make sure (I set mine to whatever the current month
was, but in 2010--easier that way), and then add an event to your
calendar in 2010 or later, and watch the result. I did mine on an MP
130, I believe. And like I said, I had to do a brain wipe to get it
back. I've never done it on a 2100, and don't intend to repeat it. I
don't really have the time, and to get my Newton connected to my
computer to make a secondary backup is a pain. Doing a newton brain
wipe is time sink, and I'm not up to it....
But by all means, somebody, please feel free to go ahead and try it.
I'm curious what the results will be on a 2K model and an eMate...
