I'm no expert, but I gave up on dialup a few years back. When hiring 
an ISP over a decade ago for my first internet computer, the MP 2000, 
I tried several before finding one that worked. They quit working 
several years ago despite my best efforts -- I presume due to changes 
in protocols. (I have 56K XJack)

NIE over ethernet only way I've found to connect since.
