[NTLK] The NEWTON COMPLETE Project 1.0

As no one has said anything about this yet, my conscience forces me to speak up.

Before I say anything, let me mention that I am not a big fan of DRM or copyright law insofar as abandonware, etc. As I think I've pointed out before, here in Arizona we have a chain of stores that sell used CDs, DVDs, vinyl LPs, software, and so on. I've bought things there and certainly will do so again. I'm sure everyone here knows of a place (legal or not) where (used) software and other copyrighted works can be purchased.

In a thread that was in one of William's emails, someone pointed out that care should be exercised as to the mention of sharing possibly still copyrighted software here on NTLK (and UNNA), that this has been a hot topic in the past and some might be offended.

Let me say again: I am not one of those people.

However, I am still constrained to point out that there is a possible legality issue here. For example, I have DateMan. It cost me $10, and is not abandonware. I am not entirely comfortable sharing it, as Hardy Macia (I think that's his name) was gracious enough to reduce the price to $10 after I emailed him. So, I think we need to decide which should be shared and which might still be "live" (although admittedly barely so).

This debate raged through the early months of 2010, IIRC...I don't wish to restart it. But, like I said, I think we need to move cautiously here.

Thanks,
--Forrest
