Since Newton was discontinued, new devices and operating systems have come
and gone, slowly reinventing Newton's features one by one...

There is handwriting recognition in Windows 10.

The major operating systems make heavy use of gestures and animations.

Intelligent assistance is commonplace, though it is done on servers rather
than locally.

"NoSQL" data storage has become popular, on Web application servers at
least.

Android is full of sound effects, can be extended by the user and is used
by multiple manufacturers.

iOS supports a stylus, although there is no system-wide Rosetta/Inkwell
available for whatever reason.

Mobile applications offer routing options within them, eliminating the
need for the user to start communication first and then specify the data
to be shared.

And there is probably more.

... yet there is still no platform offering all those features in an
elegant, user-friendly and non-intrusive way like Newton does. Not to
mention expandable hardware with standard batteries.

Here's to another 20 years!
