Well, my little UMP2k is trying to break that record as we speak :) (hey,
did I remeber to turn on the Compressed option?)

I froze a bunch of stuff, rebooted, and I've got around 365K free. It's
also set to save to my memory card, which has 4.3MB free.

I might have to end up doing that... my Newt just restarted itself on the
first attempt.

I also looked at using BookMaker, but I'm not feeling that ambitious right
now :)
