I have to give my opinion here.
What makes the newton input great it is not the handwriting recognition but
the gesture recognition. The fact that you insert, add, copy, overwrite,
etc. with mere gestures makes the newton different and real easy to use.
Even when grafitti was used on the Newtons the gestures made it different
from Palm.
It is this pen-integrated GUI what should be passed on to other handhelds.
