I see no reason why not. The ethernet card of your Newton has physically
to be connected to the modem via a hub or directly with a crossed cable
and you have to set your DNS server addresses and something like the
gateway address of the modem.
For internet access within our company intranet I got an IP number as
well as network name for my Newton and could it set-up within minutes.
