Aloha 2.7 is over a year old; continued use of the software is completely dependent on the actions of AOL (something that should have been stated reasonably clearly when the product was offered for sale), which are entirely out of his control.
If Aloha remained in development, I think this would be a reasonable request. If he opts to release the source code for someone else, all the best. But I think it's a bit presumptuous to say he "owes" anyone anything.
