This is probably your backup battery. Yes, you just replace it. I'm not
sure you're supposed to get a message about the backup battery running
low.
One other thing, you shouldn't have frozen SleepAid. I think it's kinda
modifying the sleep preferences, because if you open it again and check
under the "i" popup, there's an item that says "Kill prefs". That's
because the built in prefs don't have a separate sleep delay for the
MessagePad itself and the backlight. So, if you want to freeze SleepAid,
I would suggest you kill the prefs before doing so. Then, to make sure
that everything is setup properly, open the Preferences and check the
sleep settings.
