Re:NTLK In Praise of Newton's Handwritng was: In Praise Of Assist

Well, I don't think that I draw the same letter the
same way in a single word...for instance, my name has
two "m's" in it, the second "M" never looks like the
first "M"...But what I've done is that if the Newton
recognizes my attempt at writing as a potential "new"
word, then I will take that wrong word (for instance,
beins -> being
ahd -> and
cull -> call
h9ve -> have
fnis -> this
vu4 -> you
yo4 -> you
YU6 -> you

so you see, I've forced the newton to accept my scrawl
and replace the obviously wrong words with the correct
words (btw, that list above is just a small
sampling...
my expand dictionary is over 20k! I have several
hundred replacements in there (I've had a newton ever
since the 120 with the 2.0 came out) in fact I think
at last count, i had over a thousand...took to long to
count, so I never did it again!)
So, while my gestures are close to the actual method
of letter formation, they don't always turn out that
way...I think it is amazing that the Newton can
recognize writing that not even my own mom can! Heck,
sometimes I have trouble reading my own handwriting! I
tried to save something in "ink" on my Newton, but
when I tried to convert it later, I couldn't figure
out what I had written to make sure that the Newton
had translated it correctly! But I will tell you this!
the Newton is better than 98% accurate in recognizing
my writing...And that is cool!
