NTLK Solution to IR-Wireless backups/synching ? Some questions...

Hi all,

Is there any way to have a newton backup to a mac, via the normal mac
cable, automatically? say, immediately after recieving beams or at pre-set
times during the day. or is there a way to have the newt constantly listen
for a connection?

I'm not sure if this has been brought up before but...
The reason I ask is that i think this would allow for a solution to the
much wanted wireless synching/backups to our Macs (sort of ?). I have an
MP110, MP130 and an eMate. I was thinking that if I could have one of my
newts (preferably the MP110) constantly connected to the mac via the mac
cable and constantly powered with it set to recieve beams automatically,
then, using the MP110 as a 'gateway' between the desktop (beige G3) and
another newt , I would have a wireless backup setup [ie: MP130 beams info to
MP110 'gateway' which automatically backs up to the desktop via cable -or-
MP130 beams info to MP110 'gateway' which is constantly waiting for a
connection from NCU or NCK from which it can backup at a click of a button].
but this would only work if there were some way to automatically backup the
MP110 to my desktop (either immediately after beams have stopped being
recieved or at least at pre-set times during the day). or if the MP110
could constantly listen for a connection rather than timing out after a
while.

As for wireless synching, a 2.x newt would have to be used as the 'gateway'
between between newt and desktop and some sort of automatic synching package
would have to be used. or, again, the newt would have to be able to
constantly listen for a connection without timing out. Then, all you would
have to do is launch NCU, hit synch, and *BAM*, your done. just read the
newly synched file w/ palm desktop and that would be it, right?.

of course, this would only be applicable for sending information from the
newt to the desktop. as for synching back from desktop to newt, this would
need some sort of package that would automatically beam new info to another
newt once it recieves it from the desktop or something like that.
anyways...

laters,
   Brandon
