Ethernet works great, I have a farallon ethernet card for my newton, but I
connect to my G4 using a Belkin USB to Serial hub for NCU and it works
great every time.

I would recommend a eithernet adaptor for the newton. As this will allow
you to hook it up to your g4 powerbook and your g3. But you will have to
find a way to intall the eithernet drivers and NIE 2.0 on the newton
before you can use it. And you'll need a hub.
