AppleTalk runs fine on X. What is not supported is one of the older
file transfer protocols, the one that allows pre OS 9 systems to connect
to a disk served by X, but apple plans to add this support in 10.1.

Newtons have no problem connected to apple talk services such as NCU
which run on X. Don't forget that AppleTalk in a collection of
protocols, all of with may or may not be implemented on any given device.
