I seem to recall something like up to a mile, outside in clear
areas(!) Roam no. Peer-to-Peer.

That I don't know, possibly on a Mac with LocalTalk/Ethernet
bridge software installed. I'd just love to access RTF documents
on my laptop while in meetings.
