I have a very specific problem connecting my Newt to the Internet via my =
mobile.
I checked all the initialization settings for the mobile (Nokia 6210 =
with built in modem) connecting it to my PC.
I could establish the connection to the ISP without any problem from the =
PC.
I used modem modifier to set all these things for the Newton.
I created an Internet setup for NIE2.0 and put in all the required data.
Trying to establish a connection to the ISP, the modem will be =
initialized, the phone calls the right number, establishes the =
connection .... and hangs up aftewr a while (I guess after the providers =
modem hung up.
Some 10 seconds later I get the error message that the PPP =
authentication failed.
Comparing the setups in my PC and in NIE I found only one discrepancy:
WIN uses IP header compression and this is required from the ISP as =
well,
but I could not find any checkbox in NIE to set/unset that.
So I wonder if this is implemented at all?
Anyone who could give a hint?
Johannes
