'preferences' menu available from the 'extras' drawer.
The impression I got from the manual is having the light on may not be a
good idea in that the lighting element is likely to burn out and not be that
easy to replace (i could be wrong but I tend to caution!) and there is the
power drain factor especially when far from the nearest power-point.
Go with whatever works!
