Some more info on the eMate speedup and the MP2x00 speedup...
The clock speed on the eMate goes from 25 MHz to around 32MHz. Some
features are noticably faster, the eMate is more responsive, 'snappier'
overall. However it's still no MP2100.
The MP2x00 clock goes from 162 MHz to just under 220 MHz (the same speed
increase as from the Implant). It was really noticably faster at first,
(almost 60 MHz faster) but now I'm used to it, and sometimes have to check
to see if it's on 'fast' mode or not.
Now the bad news. I cannot get either of them to work with my Ethernet card
(3com 589d), while in fast-mode. Also the serial port does not seem to
work. However, I have a 56k modem card which does work while in fast-mode,
and memory cards work. Also, sound is sped up, so if you use sound icons or
mod files, they sound a little like the chipmunks. These two reasons are
why the switch is needed, so you can 'downshift' when you need to use the
dock etc. then speed up for normal use.
That url again for those who missed it is http://sine.ath.cx/mpoc.html but
I'd like to point out that the web page belongs to Sine, all credit for it
is his. I have no affiliation with it, it's where I got the info to try
these mods. When my own page is up with pics etc. I'll post the url.
