NE2k, short for NE2000, a 16-bit network card introduced by Novell (based on
a reference design for a National Semicondocutor Ethernet chip) and cloned
by a large number of vendors on the ISA, PCI, and PCMCIA buses.

In the PC world, it represents a sort of lowest common denominator of
network card, not particularly high performance, but pretty much universally
supported.

Speaking of which... anyone have a recommendation/source for a cheap NE2000
PCMCIA card? I'm looking for one to try with the packet driver on the HP
200LX. (The card services is not standard, so the only "supported" cards are
one from Silicom and one from Accton (though supposedly many NE2K's work
with the Accton driver).
