One can only hope.

I do however think that Microsoft will no longer be the dominant firm they
are today. In 1984 IBM was at the peak of its power and look what happened.
They are now a strong and profitable company but no longer the dominant force
in the PC market. I think the same fate awaits Microsoft it if survives in
its present form. Which is in no way guaranteed. Also, trouble coming from
Mr. Monti and the EU.

I agree that IBM's big Linux push is dangerous for Microsoft. IBM is a much
more diversified corporation than Microsoft is and it can afford to do what
it is doing. 5+ billion dollars committed to Linux.

Let's see what shakes out.
