Glad to hear things are working out for you.

Just until the next time, right?! :-)
My Newt finally has stuff'ed itself. So I am starting from scratch
reloading all my apps. I needed to do this, as my Newt was slowly dying
-- something wrong here, something wrong there. It was getting worse
over time. Then today my 61 fix just stayed on forever.
In my case, knock on wood, it looks like I will have no problem with any
data -- thankfully. It seems some apps/extensions acting up. I've been
meaning to do this, as well as get my computer files concerning the Newt
organized.
Your stress before trip reminds me of a time when I was using a Palm OS
device. I did a complete backup with no problems. Had plenty of time to
spare, close to an hour. I decided that I might as well put in a fresh
set of batteries. Then I put the Palm in my carry on soft briefcase and
was relaxing watching the TV. For some reason, thankfully, I went back
into the briefcase about 5 minutes later to check something. The Palm
was extremely hot. I am not sure why. I believe that I put the
batteries in correctly, and that the batteries having a reaction.
On a side note, ask me about a runaway battery during a flight sometime...
Anyhow I digress. Regardless of the reason, the Palm was almost too hot
to hold. So I ripped out the batteries. Obviously my data was lost.
However, since I just completed a complete backup, all I needed to do is
restore all the data once I was sure the Palm was okay. It checked out,
so then I began to sync the data. Problem was, I did not have enough
time to completely do this. Serial is so sssssllllloooowwww --
especially when you are in a hurry!
Now I was in a bind because I needed some very important data that was on
the Palm. Yes, I could have cut and pasted it into another app and
printed everything. Hindsight is everything!
But instead, I was stressed out and not thinking so I decided to do the
sync. As I did, I am watching the clock move -- and not slow enough. I
figured out that I could not complete the sync and make it to the
airport. So I sync'ed until the last second that I could wait, and
hopefully get all the info. Then I stopped it and left for the airport.
Luckily, I got the info I needed. However, upon return, it took me
forever to get all my data back to normal.
The moral of the story, haste makes waste!
...a lesson that I am sure I will learn again in the future. :-(
