whoah...I don't know how to answer this one....should
I use sarcasm? or direct bluntness?
I guess the best answer is in the form of a question.
What can you do with a laptop computer?
If you can do it with a laptop, you can do it with a
Newton.
Office applications (yes) are part of the programs
that comes bundled with the MP2k. Nice to have, but I
rarely use them...
ICQ/IRC? sure, but everyone I know is on AIM (I use my
cell phone for that) Keyboards? What's the point? I
get 98% handwriting recognition and automatic spell
checking! (plus short-cuts through expanding) I find
the keyboard to be slower than just writing on the
screen.
The best thing I use the Newt for is a brain
extension. I jot down pages of ideas and notes. Take
down information from others, and notes during
meetings. It's far better than a laptop because it
doesn't get in the way of actually seeing what the
meeting presenter is actually talking about. I then
hook it up to the network and email my notes to mu
group so we all have copies. (amazes my coworkers)
But because the Newton is so ultimatly flexible, you
will probably get hundreds of different uses of how
hundreds of different people use their Newton.
My advice to you is to not "follow" others in how they
use their Newtons, but develop your own use for it.
You'll be amazed at how the Newton can be adapted to
perform anything you need from it. I have been
Newtoning since my original 120/v1.3 and still have my
original notes from that Newton. That's what makes is
wonderful to me. I can recall any thought I placed in
my Newton for the last 6-7 years! It is, quite
literaly, an extension to my brain! Without it I would
be lost...
And nothing can replace it because my Newton is so
personalized, it practically anticipates what I'm
going to do next...
