No. Except for very early X-ray machines exposing undeveloped film, the
problem has never been the X-rays. The problem is with the magnetic fields
generated by the motors that drive the conveyor belt. I'm pretty sure that,
long ago, all these were redesigned to move the motors away from the top of
the conveyor (and the motors are better designed to use lower power and to
reduce emissions). The most likely explanation would be if you weren't
there at the far end to catch your Newt when it came off the conveyor and
therefore it may have suffered some sort of impact. The whole "laptop
ruined by airport x-ray machine" has almost become something of an urban
legend -- it just doesn't happen nowadays. BUT, I *have* heard of laptops
getting destroyed because they're going thru now without the protection of
the laptop bag.
