You can probably e-mail spreadsheets from one Newton to another w/o loss.
But your question was transferring data from desktop to Newton via e-mail.
It can not work because the binary format of xcel and QF ist totally
different and that's where QuickFigure exchange jumps in: It flattens out
the data into a simple serial data stream and does translation of the
complex object oriented data structures of the Newton into cells and cell
formulae for the desktop. As long as QFexchange works, read as long as the
Macro installs and runs under the yearly changing xcel version, you can
transfer data to the desktop only this way. Be happy that it is possible at
all (if it still is in your configuration, Office2001:mac causes some
trouble... :-( and bear in mind that there is NO equivalent spreadsheet appl
for the Palm.
