Just thought I'd throw my 2 cents. I've got the port installed and
everything works as expected, staving off the grim reaper of
obsolescence for another while. I would also like to say that everything
David and Paul and Victor and everyone else that keep this platform at
the centre of my day to day existence is much appreciated. Like everyone
else I run into the usual oohs and awes whenever I take a number, a note
or whatever. I recently took the plunge and used my Newton instead of
paper at a conference and I have to say that I found reading off the
screen a lot easier than paper. Scrolling at the right moment kept
things flowing and unlike turning pages, the presentation flowed because
1) people concentrated on the talk rather than on where I was in the
stack of paper in front of me and 2) when I couldn't remember where
something specific was, find could. I have since decided to use it for
all my lectures and tutorials.
Still, some colleagues are adamant that they need the 'reality' (I'm
in philosophy) of paper and hard copy, but to that I just say that there
were many people who shared their attitude after Guttenberg invented his
little bit of technology.
Thanks a million,
Thomas
