I've been lurking on this thread, reading about how worried everyone is that
MP3s aren't "CD-quality." Funny thing is, if you talk to a TRUE audiophile,
you find out that *they* SNEER at "CD-quality" as being unacceptably poor!
It was once demonstrated to me (by another physicist that happens to be an
audiophile) that the dynamic range of a high quality turntable/amp/etc. FAR
exceeds that of any digital system. When you think about it, the atomic
force microscope is essentially a phonograph arm, and those things measure
individual atoms.
Anyway, just thought I'd inject some perspective here.
