I also had the same problem several times.
Don't worry: just do a "hard reset": remove the batteries and unplug the AC
adaptor, so that your Newt does not get any power during at least 30
minutes.
Then put the battery in, plug the Newt to the AC adaptator and switch it on.
You will see it will work again.
