  Right, Like I said, in a first step, I will extract the text on a side and
the graphics on the other side.

  For the document format, I think, I have no choice, I will modify the
original design of the PDF Book to adapt it of the Newton. The more
important thing is that the document must be the same (in data sense)

  I would like not using the horizontal scrolling like PocketPC PDF
Bookreader, it's not really usable for big documents like you said. To
eliminate this thing the more simple solution is to cut the original line in
two (or more depending on the lenght and of the size font).

  Right, but for that, you need Acrobat Distiller to generate the A5 format
document and is not really free.
