Brand new x86-based computers still come with 9-pin serial ports, and 25-pin
parallel ports. Those computers have historically always been stuck with old
technology/ideas due to the idea that everything has to be 100% backwards
compatible. (I mean, they still use the x86 architecture, BIOSes, floppy
drives and have a base 640k of memory). Anyways, I would seriously /not/ be
worried about finding a computer with a serial port -- I've still yet to see
one lacking this piece of hardware.
