If you want to use Apple software, you need a mac or a mac emulator:

Since you're using Windows, I'll mention Thomas Templemann's DIL
Tester (http://www.tempel.org/newton/). The link is somewhere in the
FAQ, but AFAIK, it doesn't say you can use Ethernet with it
(actually, Thomas' DIL Tester can do TCP/IP).
Finally, there is a MacOS X TCP/IP package installer.
