Steve and Robin:

I know it probably really sucks to not be able to connect your Newts to the
PC. In all my time with the Newton, though, I've been very lucky to never
have had a problem with this on any of the hardware I've used - from P100
laptops with Win95 to 2.0GHz P4s with Win2000, or my home Duron 900 box with
WinXP. However, there are a number of things you can try:

-If possible use a PC with real built-in serial ports. Serial to USB
adapters, well, suck. For instance, my old Kodak camera won't work properly
with my Belkin F5U103 serial to USB thingy.

-Try adjusting your serial buffer settings. From Device Manager, find the
port you're using to connect with the Newton, double-click it, choose the Port
Settings tab, and click on the Advanced button. Adjust the two sliders down
and try connecting again. You'll probably have to mess around with this until
it works. (This tip originally from:

-There's also Slowdown. Search the list archive for tons of info.
