The FAQ, specifically here:

http://www.chuma.org/newton/faq/newton-faq-hardware.html#IIB1b

states that 64MB is the limit for linear flash cards period. It also says
that there are no reports confirming or denying that 64MB cards work.
40MB cards do, however, so the limit is >=40MB.
