Thanks for the info Brian. Last October I was travelling in Italy and
before I left I signed up for AT&T Global dialup service. What a disaster.
They didn't have a local POP in Pordenone where I was staying, so I had to
call another community long distance. Then, I never could successfully
authenticate on their network. The only technical support avenue I could
find was a web form, which wouldn't work in Newt'sCape or Nethopper, so I
was essentially stuck.

I ended up placing a lot of international calls back to my home ISP's
dialup, at great expense.

UUNET sounds like a better bet. Next time I'm travelling internationally
I'll sign up.
