Actually PhoneNet was the better of the two variants. For one thing,
PhoneNet, which is generally more robust, supports network cabling of up
to 1000 ft length, opposed to the 300 ft of LocalTalk. Also, you could
buy PhoneNet hardware for years after Apple discontinued LocalTalk, so
for the last couple of years it has been a moot point anyway.
